Standard design gaskets

Standard gaskets are used for many different purposes by many different parties. In fact, there are designs and sizes of gaskets that are, more or less, in common industrial use.

This has allowed the use of more standard production technologies and the consequent possibility of often keeping these gaskets in stock. MB Guarnizioni produces different types of standard gaskets

Materiali: PFTE

The main ones are:

Washers

Washers, sometimes referred to as DN, DE or PN, are flat, circular seals with holes in the centre.

Sealing Rings

These seals, also called oil seals, are used for rotating shafts. They are characterised by a rubber-coated metal body, a sealing edge and a toroidal spring.

Discs

Discs are round seals with different diameters and can be used in a variety of sectors for different purposes.

Teflon tape (PTFE)

Teflon tape is used as a sealant and sealing tape in various sectors such as in the plumbing sector, for pipes and fittings, in the hydraulics sector, in pumps and valves, and in the mechanical sector, in tighteners.

Spiral Wound Gaskets

Spiral wound gaskets can be considered as a compromise between metal and plastic-based gaskets.

V-RING

These typically V-shaped seals are mainly used for rotating shafts and bearings.

Lip Seals

Lip seals are mainly used with pistons.

X-RING

X-rings are to be considered an evolution of o-rings with a different operating principle to be attributed to the four lobes that give the typical x-shape.

Washers

Washers, sometimes referred to as DN, DE or PN, are flat, circular seals with holes in the centre. They are often made with additional, larger or smaller holes. The dimensions of the washers and holes can follow standard dimension tables. They have different uses and are made of many different materials. They are considered gaskets for flanges, for hydraulics, for fittings and for various other uses. Among the compact materials we have:

  • RUBBER WASHERS
  • ADHESIVE RUBBER WASHERS
  • ASBESTOS-FREE WASHERS
  • PLASTIC WASHERS
  • PTFE WASHERS
  • COPPER WASHERS
  • ALUMINIUM WASHERS
  • CORK WASHERS
  • GRAPHITE WASHERS
  • RED FIBRE AND CARDBOARD WASHERS

Washers can also be made from expanded materials:

  • FOAM RUBBER WASHERS
  • ADHESIVE FOAM RUBBER WASHERS
  • WASHERS IN EXPANDED PTFE
  • POLYURETHANE FOAM WASHERS
RONDELLA

Discs

Discs are round seals of different diameters and can be used in a variety of sectors for different purposes. The main discs in compact materials are

  • RUBBER DISCS
  • ADHESIVE RUBBER DISCS
  • ASBESTOS-FREE DISCS
  • DISCS IN PLASTIC MATERIALS
  • PTFE DISCS
  • COPPER DISCS
  • ALUMINIUM DISCS
  • CORK DISCS
  • GRAPHITE DISCS
  • RED FIBRE DISCS

Discs can also be made of expanded materials:

  • EXPANDED RUBBER DISCS
  • ADHESIVE FOAM DISCS
  • EXPANDED PTFE DISCS
  • POLYURETHANE FOAM DISCS
  • EXPANDED POLYETHYLENE DISCS

Spiral Wound Gaskets

Spiral wound gaskets can be regarded as a compromise between metal and plastic-based gaskets. Spiral wound gaskets are manufactured by spiralling a steel strip until the desired diameter is reached. To this, filler is added externally and/or internally.

Steel is often added with nickel, chromium, silicon, molybdenum, titanium, etc. Spirometallics differ in the presence and percentage concentration of these additives in the steel, which may be more or less alloyed.

Spirometallics are also categorised according to the filler used. The most common are graphite, PTFE, chlorite minerals and ceramic fibres. These are used according to specific temperature and chemical resistance requirements.

Lip Seals

Lip seals are mainly used with pistons. They are usually made of NBR rubber or FPM rubber depending on the requirements for operating temperatures and different chemical resistances.

There are different types of lip seals. The main ones are: lip seals type DI/DIM, type DE/DEM, type U/UM, type M, type H and type C.

Sealing Rings

These seals, also called oil seals, are used for rotating shafts. They are characterised by a rubber-coated metal body, a sealing edge and a toroidal spring. The rubber used can be NBR or FKM (Viton), depending on chemical and operating temperature requirements.

The main types of seal rings are G-type and M-type.

Teflon tape (PTFE)

Teflon tape is used as a sealant and sealing tape in various sectors such as in the plumbing sector, for pipes and fittings, in the hydraulics sector, in pumps and valves, and in the mechanical sector, in tighteners.

The well-known characteristics of PTFE allow the tape to be used in chemically aggressive environments and at high and low temperatures.

There are different types of Teflon tape whose dimensions follow standard tables.

V-Ring

These typically V-shaped seals are mainly used for rotating shafts and bearings. They are mainly made of NBR rubber and follow specific standard dimensions.

X-Ring

X-rings are to be considered an evolution of o-rings with a different operating principle attributed to the four lobes that give the typical x-shape.

This particular shape guarantees, in certain locations where they are used, a better seal, less friction, more lubrication, less wear and less energy dissipation. X-rings are mainly produced in NBR, FKM and VQM and follow standard dimensions.
